We were one of six Wexford GAA clubs awarded official accreditation as an Irish Life GAA Healthy Club in 2023. This accreditation recognises the exceptional contribution of our club to the health and wellbeing of our members and our community. This milestone follows almost two years of hard work by the volunteers in our club, who give up their free time to make the GAA and Ireland a healthier place for everyone to enjoy.
The Irish Life GAA Healthy Clubs programme aims to help GAA clubs explore how they support the holistic health of their members and the communities they serve. GAA clubs already contribute to the health and wellbeing of their members by providing opportunities to develop their physical, social, emotional, and psychological health.
The programme marks its tenth anniversary in 2023. It has grown from a small pilot featuring 16 clubs in 2013 to having engaged 450 clubs to date. It has gained national and international recognition as an exemplary programme for the delivery of health promotion through a sports club setting.
We were one of the 16 clubs involved in the initial 2013 pilot and are very proud of our accredited status and continued involvement in this programme.
